What are Smooth Steel Post Tension Ducts?


Smooth steel post tension ducts are a critical component in post-tensioning systems used to strengthen and reinforce concrete structures. They form a smooth conduit for tendons (cables or strands) and allow the injection of grout to create a permanent bond between steel and concrete.
Manufactured from lock-forming quality galvanized steel (DX52D) with a zinc coating of 150 g/m², these ducts are designed to resist concrete pressure, prevent leakage, and maintain their profile during construction. Their smooth interior ensures low friction during tendon stressing and efficient grout flow after installation.

Ply Seam Design
Our ducts feature a 4-ply stitch seam design, providing exceptional leak tightness and added rigidity. This construction ensures the ducts remain sealed during grouting, maintain their shape under concrete pressure, and perform reliably during bending and vibration. The design improves long-term durability and is specifically engineered for demanding post-tensioning application

Smooth Profile Strength Smooth ducts are designed to maintain their profile during installation and concrete vibration. They ensure optimal tendon alignment, minimize wobble, and reduce friction losses. Each duct can withstand a concrete fluid pressure of 3.0 m, deflect a maximum of 75 mm over 6.0 m, and resist dents up to 3 mm under a 0.45 kN load.

Galvanized SteelManufactured from high-quality DX52D steel, our ducts feature a thickness of 0.35 mm and a 150 g/m² zinc coating (G90 equivalent) for corrosion resistance. Each bundle contains five ducts, making handling and transport easy while ensuring consistent protection and durability in post-tensioning construction environments.

Each smooth duct is equipped with custom-fit precision couplers designed to create tight, secure, and leak-resistant joints. Additional Recommendations
Minimum curvature radius: 2.5 m (vertical) and 8 m (horizontal).Always store ducts in dry, covered conditions to avoid contamination. Use reinforced duct tape at joints and connections. Do not expose sealed ducts to sunlight for more than 24 hours, depending on tape quality and weather.
